Canada’s Pot Possession laws Declared Unconstitutional

Canada’s Pot Possession laws are declared unconstitutional

This has happened before, but alas turned out to be a Prague Spring. So my expectations are tempered. Still I am convinced that sooner rather than later the damn will break and roughly for the reasons successfully argued in Toronto.

In court, the man argued that the federal government only made it policy to provide marijuana to those who need it, but never made it an actual law. Because of that, he argued, all possession laws, whether medicinal or not, should be quashed. The judge agreed and dismissed the charges.

"The government told the public not to worry about access to marijuana," said Judge Howard Borenstein. "They have a policy but not law.… In my view that is unconstitutional." Defence lawyer Brian McAllister, who represented the man, said the ramifications of the ruling have potential to be "pretty big."

Hey, that's the back of my head you have in the picture! Great news from the Ontario courts. Let's hope it stands.

I seriously don't see why people are asking our government to legalize illegal drugs. Seriously, people ought to be looking for other medicines instead of remaining dependent on marijuana or pot. After all, if Canada was governed by the Liberals, you can expect them to display in the broad daylight, as usual, their kind of laissez faire attitude.

hey khoi khoi, marijuana is not an illegal drug for certain people, and who the hell are you to say to people with afflictions some of which are dying to get other drugs, some of which are more dangerous and are finance by the american pharmacutical, and by the way, harpy is a lot of things, but not our government just yours and right wing nuts like you, temporarly may I add. As for the liberals, at least they are realistic, even though I dont use pot, I fully agree that pot helps people...wich is something u nuts nuts would never understand. or are opposing just for the hell of it, of to follow someone...dum shit
