Liberals pandering to the Social Cons

http://www.nationalpost.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=1650066

Talk of the social gospel and Tommy Douglas is simply an attempt to put lipstick on a pig. The Liberals are pandering to social cons, plain and simple. If it was the social gospel crowd the Liberals were going for, they would made Rob Oliphant their point man instead of appointing some evangelical fruitcake.

When I was still supporting the NDP I was appalled that they were starting to court the religious vote, formalizing a faith commission, and had Layton, Chow and other MPs talking in code about 'faith' in some speeches. I was attracted by the fact that the Liberals hadn't gone down this route. Now it seems the Marxist-Leninist party is the only option for those who don't want to mix religion and politics.

Look at what happened in Ontario when McGuinty tried to eliminate religious prayer from parliament - all the other parties fought back and we ended up with even more religious prayer in parliament.

Why are you on Liblogs? Are you a con operator pretending - because you spend all your time on this site looking at the negatives and attacking the Liberals.

You're not fooling anyone.

Funny this response would come up in a post involving religion.

Would it be better if Maple had unwavering, blind support for the party?

Not all Liberals are glassy eyed "religious" lemmings.

Someone has to hold then accountable, all the better if that comes from within.

Keep up the good work Maple.
