Green Shift is a Unmediated Disaster: Change Course

Call it what you will, the Green shift has been an unmediated political disaster that is now the Liberals cross to bear. That said, the Liberals are not condemned to press with only this policy. They need to change the channel and the only thing that is going to accomplish this is to wide into the cultural wars in a big way. Do not worry about what the hinterlands may think. It is too late to think about winning the election. The best the Liberals can hope for now is hold on to what they have in Canada’s major cities. My personal favorite is promising to legalize marijuana, but this will likely fall on deaf ears. Promising to introduce euthanasia is not nearly as bold but might buy the Liberals a few days grace from the green disaster headlines.

THat is false Koby. SC is showing that the Green Shift plan has majority of voters support in BC and Ontario.

We need to keep at it and simply the message a bit in my view.. but we do need to start pointing out the flaws of Harper's government the past couple of years. In otherwards, to counter their apparent support growing in Ontario, point out their disparaging remarks about the province the past couple of years by Flaherty and company. Point out the job losses since Harper took the reins. Thats what we need to do.

Thank you. Finally, someone with the balls to post what most CANADIANS are thinking.

Scott, quit espousing the company line. This is about winning an election, not trying to defend the indefensible. The Green Shift is the Green Shaft. We all know it...except Dion...maybe.

Are you suggesting your party bribe canadians with "much needed" euthanasia as a last ditch effort to get back to power?

Careful... Cherniak will punt you from Liblogs for this...

The Liberal numbers are god awful here Scott. Some polls have the Liberals sitting at 20% or worse in BC. I have been saying this for more than a year.

The Liberals are in danger of loosing Quarda for god sakes. Anyone who has ever been to Kits should know that this should not happen. This is very socially liberal riding. Support for Iniste, for example, runs over 70% vs just over 20 against. With the Liberals having punted away the Afghan issue all the Liberals have is the environment and there is not a single poll where the Liberals are identified as the party of the environment -- none. Give social liberals a bone and not only will you motivate them you will also spilt the right.

Babylonian777 we need you to stay on message. There are bigoted things to be said about muslims etc. Just make sure to identify yourself as Conservative.

These are some of the worst polls in the history of the party, now is not time to be good little troops.

Scott, you're false.

From your link, Over all, 41 per cent of the respondents in Ontario and British Columbia were opposed to the Green Shift, while 45 per cent and 43 per cent, respectively, were in favour.

How do you define majority?
